I do. We meet twice a week to work on magics. I didn't know he was your uncle. [He knows she means adopted, but it's fun to tease. He grins.] He doesn't have your nose.
[He shrugs.] I was ill for a bit. I've recovered. [He wiggles his left arm.] And I'm out of that sling now, which is lovely.
Force magics? I know a little about them. I think he kinda needs them if he lives in a place with rancor beasts. [ Her impromptu Star Wars fauna lesson has left Ikki with an intense feeling of how did anyone survive there. She laughs at the half-question, though. ] He's not actually related to me, but he and Aunt Nomi are family, anyway.
Have you done anything fun - [ Ikki's cut off by the bird pokemon sitting next to her nudging his head against her arm, and she giggles again. ] Sorry, Soren! Right. Loki, this is Soren - Soren, this is Loki.
They are unpleasant! I can do you one better than telling, though. [ Ikki takes out her journal - no she's not being rude! - and flips back to one of her first entries, finding the sketch Uncle Luke had left her.
Guys, meet the rancor beast. ] Apparently there's a whole planet of them - Uncle Luke's from a place where there are loooooots of planets.
[ Soren is always willing to accept people treating him like a person because he is, okay. He's already pretty fond of the other people at house 56 - Aang is an airbending buddy, man - and he'll examine Loki's hand with a certain amount of wariness but is mostly chill. ]
I'm not sure where you'd get a pet here, though. The ones we have came with people, right, grandpa?
[That terrifying drawing. Luke what have you shown to this child?!]
Y-yeah, except for Petunia. Unless you try... making friends with local animals, the only other way I'd know is I think you can get some with mission points. [He could be remembering wrong.]
[ Action, October 8 ] SCREAM WHAT IS THAT EXPRESSION AANG
[Loki inspects the picture with a certain amount of curiosity but nothing more. He has seen uglier things.] Hm. Interesting. [He smiles.] There are many planets where I'm from as well. Only most people haven't figured out how to leave their own yet.
That is quite the impressive array, Aang.
Gregor informed me I might acquire a horse in that fashion. That is my intention. I rather miss my horse.
[ The rancor beast has shown up in her nightmares. Ikki's pretty certain Luke Skywalker and everyone from his world are just impossibly strong and brave because how else do you ever deal with monsters like this. ] Are planets different from the realms you talked about, or is it just another word for the same thing?
Right, 'cause Petunia was from Captain Jack.
Gregor's one of your friends, right? [ She has to think about it a moment, but she has seen something about stables recently. ] Is he involved with the stables?
[ To her grandfather. ] There are nine realms they know of - Loki's from Asgard, an' Steve and Tony and Miss Potts are from Midgard. Um, the other seven - I remember Alfheim and Hel, right? [ that part was directed at Loki. ]
[The information on the realms are really interesting to him, but he nods absentmindedly because the horse thing moreso has his attention. Losing an animal companion is something particularly sensitive to Aang. Ikki voiced the one question that came to mind first, so he quietly awaits Loki's answer.]
...I think one started with an L? [ Ikki just. laughs at that part, because the words were a little complex for her to remember from hearing just once, except for the ones she had heard little anecdotes about. Elves from Alfheim, Loki from Asgard, Steve from Midgard - and Hel had been short and at the tail end of the list, so she'd retained that.
She looks a little sad about the horse thing, though. Animal companions are serious business. Soren chirps in agreement to Ikki's obvious thoughts. ]
The others are Jotunheim, Muspelheim, Nidavellir, Svartalfheim, and Vanaheim. Though Svartalfheim does not exist as such any longer. The Jotun destroyed it.
[He bows his head for a moment. What is there to say to that?]
Thank you.
Though it was probably for the best. [He glances at Ikki. Oh, this is not a place to go in front of a curious child.]
I see you brought your game board, Ikki. Shall you try to teach me now?
[There's some sympathy in Aang's eyes as he looks towards Loki, projected from his experience in being separated from Appa, but he averts them once Ikki mentions the game again. He then sets the Pai Sho board down on the table and starts to set it up.]
[Loki grins.] They're like the monsters under the bed, Ikki. Only taller, meaner, and blue. And if you're not careful... [He tweaks the end of her nose, like he's done before.] They'll snatch your nose right from your face. And wouldn't you look silly then.
[He watches the board set up with keen interest.]
We'll muddle through as best we can. I always like to learn new games.
[ WHY DO ALL THESE MONSTERS WANT HER NOSE, that's what she wants to know. Still, her immediate reaction is to laugh, just like she would if this were one of her own world's people telling her a story about a monster to snatch her away, and to rub her nose, protectively. ]
You teach me all the time, Grandpa! And I'll try, too. Umm...should grandpa and I play against one another first, or Loki and I against grandpa or grandpa and Loki against me or me and grandpa against Loki or me and Loki and grandpa watching or grandpa and Loki and me watching?
[Loki laughs.] Ikki, you are a tyrant of choice. Why don't you play a game with your grandfather first, and I shall observe. And perhaps if I begin to understand the rules, I might try to help a bit?
[ Aang really should be used to it by now. Ikki nods at Loki's suggestion, though, helping to finish setting up the board. ] Grandpa, do you go first or me? I mean you're older and I guess that means you!
[ Action, October 8 ]
[He shrugs.] I was ill for a bit. I've recovered. [He wiggles his left arm.] And I'm out of that sling now, which is lovely.
[ Action, October 8 ]
Have you done anything fun - [ Ikki's cut off by the bird pokemon sitting next to her nudging his head against her arm, and she giggles again. ] Sorry, Soren! Right. Loki, this is Soren - Soren, this is Loki.
[ Action, October 8 ]
Rancor beasts? But from what I know, the Force sounds really useful. It helps you with your magics.
[And he gives a warm smile towards Soren, the new member of the household.] And he's only our newest animal.
[ Action, October 8 ]
...Rancor beasts? That sounds unpleasant. [Loki grins.] You've the most mysterious family tree of anyone I've ever met, Ikki. 'tis very confusing.
[He gives Soren a little bow as if the pokemon is a person.] Well met then, Soren. [He holds out a hand for the pokemon to examine.]
Ah yes, I'd heard you have something of a menagerie.
Sometimes I wonder about getting a pet...
[ Action, October 8 ]
Guys, meet the rancor beast. ] Apparently there's a whole planet of them - Uncle Luke's from a place where there are loooooots of planets.

[ Action, October 8 ] 1/2
It is like a menagerie, Loki, we have a sky bison, flying lemur, messenger hawk, starfish, and we almost got a puppy-
[But he stops. That... drawing.]
[ Action, October 8 ]
Y-yeah, except for Petunia. Unless you try... making friends with local animals, the only other way I'd know is I think you can get some with mission points. [He could be remembering wrong.]

[ Action, October 8 ]
Yeah, and I bet he got Petunia from the ocean.
A horse? Your own horse hasn't shown up?
[ Action, October 8 ]
[He nods.]
Yes, Gregor is my friend. And the stables belong to him. I've been helping him with the horses.
I'm afraid there's been no sign of my Vakri. But he was not with me when I was brought here. I haven't seen him in... oh, nearly two years, I think.
[ Action, October 8 ]
Did you lose him?
[ Action, October 8 ]
[ Action, October 8 ]
[He hesitates.]
No. He lost me.
[ Action, October 8 ]
She looks a little sad about the horse thing, though. Animal companions are serious business. Soren chirps in agreement to Ikki's obvious thoughts. ]
[ Action, October 8 ]
I'm sorry the two of you were separated.

[ Action, October 8 ]
Then she grins and nods, gesturing to the board Aang was carrying. ]
Yep! Grandpa's going to help, too!
[ Action, October 8 ]
I'm not much of a teacher, but I'll do my best.
[ Action, October 8 ]

I don't know. Whichever sounds best?

That sounds good, Ikki. Make way for the old timer! [He smiles at her and sets up six Red and White Flower tiles on his side of the board.]
