[ Welcome to a clearing a little ways away from House 56. This is the Airbending Gates clearing, and they're sort of visible in the background. There's a few trees, too, and the one nearest Ikki has Soren in it. Ikki's sitting crosslegged, a box on the ground in front of her. Her journal's propped up against something - a rock? It's just not clear - to leave her hands free.

After she's sure the thing is on, she grins. ]

Hey! This is Ikki! I'd say you know that already but you might not because I don't know everyone and anyway it's New Feather season so there are probably lots of people I don't know. I guess those people don't have to listen to this because I dunno if they'd care although I'll answer questions if they want? Oh, not that ANYONE has to listen to this but I mean I know I listen to things that look most interesting to me and this might not look like that to some people. [ As always, this is all in one breath. Her mile-a-minute chatter has yet to change. ]

Anyway! Guess what?? Tomorrow? Is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL ...Not that I mind school, Sifu Raine, Sifu Layton! But that means every day I'll be free! Well except in mornings with grandpa and then sometimes with Rapunzel and Lee and the art club and you know everything else I do but it's still pretty great! I think I'm allowed to be excited about it because that's what you DO when school gets out, right? I mean I never went to a proper one at home because I learned from Daddy at the Island but I talked to some of the kids from the City and I think that's what you do. Oh, and the day after tomorrow is Katara's birthday, which is also pretty exciting! Everyone should say hello to her then, okay?

[ Another pause for breath. Surprisingly, she does actually have to breathe. ...Today is a year since arrival, and apparently that means... ] Today I'm going to share something special with you all. [ That's said as though she's telling a secret, although this isn't at all filtered. ] The secret is inside this box! This box was something Katara and I got, last year. A long time ago! Inside it are very, very special things! Normally I don't show ANYONE it, because that's how you keep secrets, but I'll show you all today. These are my treasures!

...That is, I'll show you if you ask! And then, if you ask, I'll tell you about one of my treasures that you get to see. You have to pick one! And if you pick the RIGHT one, I'll give you a present. [ Because apparently this is a game? Yes, that seems to be the case. ] If you don't get it right, then you don't get a prize!

Oh, and if you're new and listened to all that, you should drop by the school on the fourteenth, 'cause that's the next Art Club meeting and we're always recruiting!

I think I know at least one of those stories...!

[ ...At least, she was at his birthday party. But man, there are so many options, here! Which one is likely to give her the best story? She shouldn't choose the anklet, if it won't give her a whole story, anyway. If she's going for a story, she wants the entire story! There's the picture of her, but does she want a story about her? ...She does like stories about herself, but...

...what looks the most interesting? The pinwheel might be about Nami's birthday party, maybe. Or the origami flowers might be from there, or maybe from the art club...

...There's one selection she keeps coming back to, and finally she points. ]

I pick the letters with the blue ink!

[ ...Because letters almost guarantee and exciting story, right? ]

Ah, all right. [He's a little surprised actually! In his opinion this is the least interesting story.]

I have a brother named Ikki, I think I told you! He's a phoenix too! But red, not blue. And without so many bird habits. He was very shy about meeting new people and I told him he needed to get out there and meet friends! Otherwise I'd kick him. And phoenix kicks hurt! Even to other phoenixes. [Nod nod.] So he became penpals with a little girl in the village! He was worried his letters wouldn't be any good though, so he had me look them over for him. And in exchange I told him he had to make friends with the other birds in the village! Like my heron sister Leanne, and a girl named Raven.

Those are only half of the letters though.

The others are waiting to go in bottles.

There's a legend in my world that some seagulls crossing the ocean carrying bottles in letters get lost in what's known as the Rainbow Mist. It's a special mist that fragments time, the way rainbows are fragmented light! So I saved some letters for my crew to put in bottles and wait for a rainbow-y misty kind of day.

The others I wrote for my Pops, but I stick those at his memorial at the flag.

The pen pal thing, by the club Haruhi runs...?

I've never seen the Rainbow Mist, though. If that happens, will you take me to see it?

Aye, that's the one.

I would love to take you, Ikki. I've never seen the Rainbow Mist either, but I hope to. I should ask Robin if she's seen it. I'm almost certain she's read the log books about it.

Then it's a date!! If you ever find it, you absolutely positively have to take me!

Okay I will! But it probably goes pretty quickly. So you'll have to just come flying with me and we can look for it together.

I never mind going flying with you!

[Ikki you are busting his heart with cuteness overload here.] It's a plan then! And if nothing else, who knows what we might find instead!

[ It's her job. ]

It'll be just like an adventure!

[OH THEN SHE IS GOOD AT IT.]

Absolutely. You can never have too many adventures, eh. If we're lucky we'll even get more treasures for your box too!
