[ Strange. Definitely very strange. Ikki knew the room, because it was hers, but it wasn't right. Things weren't there, or were cleaned away, and although she searched around for it, she couldn't find her box or her clothes or even her sister. No matter how hard she tried to think about it, she couldn't really make things mesh in her head.

...Oh well! Humming softly to herself, Ikki opens the journal, going to her favourite setting - video. She doesn't look overly worried, although she's more or less baffled - she fully expects someone will find her and explain things, or at least tell her where to go. ]

Jinoraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! D'you have my things? Or does someone else? 'Cause I can't find 'em. Or you, so I'm using this, although I dunno the chances of you reading this book instead of another book. [ Pouting. It would be so much easier if her sister weren't constantly buried in books. At least there's a very good chance some of her other family members will see this. At least, that's the entire plan - so far as Ikki plans anything. ]

Y'know, I could have really important news and you'd miss it 'cause I can't find you! I mean, I don't. I think. I mean, I guess I sorta do, but not ACTUALLY and if you'd read this you'd probably KNOW it already. I mean, I can probably think of some! But anyway my POINT is that now I'm gonna have to run over to the library 'cause that's probably where you are, and if you aren't I'm basically gonna have to run around everywhere instead 'cause maybe you decided to go sit and read on a bench but how do I know if you did, you know? And it's not like I know all the little places you could be or might be 'cause I'm not totally sure about that right now and anyway this is a bigger area to check than usual which is ANNOYING 'cause I don't know where you are for SURE and you might not be where I think you are and you might not even be where I don't think you are, and that gets CONFUSING.

[ Apparently that was all on one breath, because she has to pause to take another, still gesturing vaguely with her hands. ] Or! I guess I'll go check for my clothes first, 'cause the dress is nice an' all but at least that'd be some of my things down, I guess? An' that's on the way anyway, so I guess that works! But! If you're not here, then you might be there? I mean, 'cause where else would you sleep? [ She's not even really talking to her sister any longer, if she ever was. Hrm. ] 'Kay! So I'll go get my clothes, and then go back and check if you're at the other house. [ Aaaand that's a wrap. Video function ended. [ And post picking up her clothing, Ikki wanders back to her second household - which was the first, a little while back - to locate any of the relatives she hadn't managed to find to begin with. She does not actually knock on the door, but will just go inside and track down anyone who is there. And also probably take an apple or something to eat. ]

Pretty much! Ummm, according to the stories I got told, grandpa was supposed to open all his gates to do the Avatar State on purpose but then that didn't go as planned but it all worked out anyway!

In my world, that's a very dangerous thing to do, although it makes you powerful. But there are also eight gates, not seven, so it's likely there are more differences than that.

[But could it be enough similarities? He thinks of what Katara told him, when she asked him to help her with bloodbending.]

It sounded a bit different how Lee was talking about it! And I think it can be dangerous if you don't do all of them? Orrr something. Um, and it can effect your bending, I guess!

I dunno, I don't think it's something I'll have to do, unless I really really wanted to? Although y'know, if I'd been born before, I wouldn't have gotten to live with my mommy and daddy and sister and brothers. ...Well, I mean, I think that I wouldn't do really well at unblocking things!

A lot of people live just fine without that, anyways. Happy too.

[But it can affect your bending. He feels like he's really getting somewhere here.]

I think so, too! I do really like hearing 'bout before, and I like how our culture is, but I think I'm happy it's changed, even if I don't think grandpa might agree sometimes although actually I haven't really asked him that! What I mean is I like living with the Air Acolytes, and I like that the temple isn't tooooooo far away from the world although I don't mind being away, and I like that I get to live with my parents and my family although I'm sure I would have been happy to live with the nuns in the eastern or western temples, too. Ummm. I'm not sure if I'm making sense!

...Actually, that's kinda not what I was talking about, I guess? [ Ikki laughs, but doesn't seem overly concerned about the tangent. She's trying to explain the story, but keeps getting a little distracted. ]

But, for opening the chakras! There are seven, and I said they're all blocked by somethin', right? Well, I guess why I was talking about the stuff before is 'cause the very last one, the, um, the thought chakra! That one deals with 'pure cosmic energy' - which actually I'm not sure what that is 'cause daddy didn't get to that 'cause Meelo fell off the pavilion in his sleep right then - an' it's blocked by 'earthly attachments'.

Ummm. The other ones I think would be more okay. An' actually we still live in a temple community, an' we don't have lots of extra things, I guess? But I mean, I have lots of those. I'm pretty sure! An' I think I'd be really, really bad at trying to unblock it.

But it's okay, 'cause I don't really want pure cosmic energy, 'cause I'd rather just have my family?

[JUST SMILE AND NOD. He is getting used to Ikki routine by now, absorbing everything from the silly, to her homelife, to what she's trying to explain. It's less troublesome just to let her talk.

If anything though, he thinks this means he needs to talk to Aang.]

I'm with you on that one, Ikki. Friends too. [...] But hey, did he ever say what the other gates do?

Oh, sure!

[ She goes blessedly quiet for a few minutes, digging up the memories again. While Jinora has always been the best student, Ikki has always been good at retaining information (especially information no one actually wanted her to retain, i.e. everything people said to her about other people, which was then shared with those other people on occasion), and it's mostly a matter of shifting through things to make certain she has it straight. ]

Okay! There's an order of 'em, and the first one is the earth chakra! That one deals with survival, but is blocked by fear. Then next is the fire - so, wait, next is the water chakra, which deals with pleasure but is blocked by guilt!

[ She doesn't immediately connect any pictures to these concepts, and probably would be hard pressed to decide what in her life actually matches - or if she has enough to match up with any of these things, having lived for only seven years - but instead is rattling them off as though Shikamaru asked her to recite her lessons, which he essentially did. ]

Third is fire, which deals with willpower and is blocked by shame! Fourth is, um, air! Which deals with love and is blocked by grief. Then you have the sound chakra - I guess when you only have four elements they have to be other things if you have more than four! - but anyway then is sound, which deals with truth an' is blocked by lies!

Theeeeeen there's light, and that one is 'insight' blocked by 'illusion' and when I asked about those daddy sighed and then there's the one we talked about!

Anyway, the story is that there was a Guru who told this to grandpa, who told this to daddy, and I think it's also in the journals from Katara or maybe the ones from grandpa? Iiiiiii mostly let Jinora read me those.

And sometimes they got boring 'cause she liked the boring parts!

[He sympathizes with you completely, Ikki. Because of that - and also because he's been a teacher so he knows the routine - he makes sure to commend her anyways.]

Haha, maaaaaaybe! Jinora's really, really good at airbending, and she likes to read more than me, but she also kinda cares more about - hey, y'know, she'd probably like the stuff Masaomi talks about! 'Cause she likes romances and doomed loves an' stuff. She reaaaaaally liked hearing about Mako and Korra and Asami but I got bored after a while with that 'cept it's fun to tease Korra a bit.

...Except don't tell her I said that, 'cause she'd launch me in the air probably!

Ha, don't worry. Mum's the word on that. I wouldn't get mercy either in that case, troublesome girl like that.

[Even keeping up this part of the conversation, his mind is still back processing this thing with the gates. Aang explained it once before, but they were talking about elements then. Shikamaru had to make sure these were the same things.
