Hi! This is Ikki. I'm writing this time. Since people keep asking about mommy and daddy, I drew pictures. And then some of people here who I met and my family here!

This is my family at home! That's me and my sister Jinora, and then Meelo is on Daddy's head, and Mommy and Daddy are holding Rohan. We're all at Air Temple Island there!

This is my family here! We're in a pink place because I wanted to use pink. It's me and Grandpa and Katara and Uncle Sokka and Aunt Toph and Uncle Roku and Uncle Zuko!

And this is everyone I met so far! It's Shikamaru who's super nice and cool and makes really really great shadows, and Nomi and Luke who are like an Avatar but not, and Chien and Soren, who don't bend air, and Vivi, who has the prettiest hair ever!

Also I got a swim suit and an apple and candy and soda and a room in our house, and it's the best best best best house ever!

She was surprised! And no, I've sort of trained her out of it. [...So Ikki doesn't react to it, huh. That means it's probably something else.] Mostly because it got to be a bit of a hazard. We can't all be as strong as Celty-san was when she was here. Which she is not anymore.

That must've been hard! How'd you train her? How long have you two been together for? [ Ikki ~~and her mun~~ is unaware that there's anything to react to, and just keeps asking questions about the Pokemon. ] Ah, well, I'm glad she helped you when she was here!

So, why d'you think Pokemon don't get wings here?

[~~reference to Aang and Katara's phobia of lightning due to Aang's near-death~~ anyway!! And then he smirks]

That's a good question! Why don't the animals here get them either? But as for Linda and myself, we've been together since she was born back in oh~ February. So that...[wow] almost half a year now.

So she'll be a year old in February? Are you going to have a party for her, next year?

...You know, I didn't thin that far. Proobably.

Can I go?

[B...blink. Blink blink]

Ah~ Isn't that thinking too far in advance, Ikki-chan?! If you're thinking that far ahead maybe I should be asking your birthday, and how old you'll be?!

Ummm, since it's July here, I guess I get to turn eight next month! On August 7th!

...Wait really, like that's it or you're mathing when it would be?

That's the day I was born, but it wasn't next month at home, y'know?

A-ah, of course! [Cough] I meant to say it gets thrown off here so some people I know celebration on the day it was thrown off too. I mean mine's June 19th, last month, day I was born! But based on one I arrive, if I did celebrate based on it, it'd be in winter.

...Iiiii am totally not making sense, am I?

Did you celebrate last month, or do you celebrate in winter?

Last month, I'm a traditionalist.

...And I only realized on the day Katara and I spent together in Tokyo.

It'd be weird to celebrate on another day, and I dunno what the math for that would even be! [ A short pause. ] ...'Cept I guess I'm the only one who knows my birthday, now. That's weird.

You went with Katara back to your world? People can do that?

Weeell that would depend what month it was back home for you, I could do it! [...but oh, he'd so much rather talk about that next thing]

But yes I did. For a free twenty-three hours, even. It's not a normal thing, but there was a bit of a fluke and it happened... sort of. No one but her and I will ever remember it.

I dunno! I think I'd like being eight. Do you remember being eight? How old are you?

Oh, that's kinda sad. Did other people go, or was it just you and Katara? What'd you do? Did you have lots of fun?

[...Wow questions]

Yes, eighteen, yes, yes. [Inhale and exhale] As for what we did though~ what didn't we do?! I took her to meet some cohorts of mine, went shopping, road the trains, went to Akiba! The top of the Tokyo Tower and Sunshine City. And in there we hit up the Aquarium, Planetarium, all sorts of places to enjoy at that tourist trap. Ate a McDonalds and had a Convenience Store meal, not to mention a bit of more classy stuff sampling wise. Saw my hometown apartment, and even fell asleep holding hands!

[Though he tries to make it all sound super exciting and upbeat... some emotion does flood into the last thing. It's one of the fondest memories he has]

[ It does all sound super exciting. Some of the words are familiar, but some aren't so much - she's leaning forward at the dining room table, her elbows propped up on the table as she listens to Masaomi talk, firing off question after question after he finishes. ]

What's a chohort? What's Akiba like? There's a city made of sunshine? What's a tourist trap? And McDonalds?

[ The slight tone change registers, even if Ikki doesn't get the significance entirely, and she giggles. ] Was it a daaaaaaate? [ The same tone and pitch she'd used to tease Korra, what felt like ages ago. ]

[...He droops to a light conspiratorial whisper, though it probably looks silly given he is saying this to a book] Promise to keep this next part our little secret, Ikki-chan?

[ And oh, how Ikki loves being asked to keep secrets. Her tone lowers, too, matching Masaomi's whisper. ] I promise!

[Still in the whisper] Katara didn't realize it, but it totally was a date. [♥] A date all day long.

How come she didn't realize it? Didn't you haveta ask her to go with you? [ Also still whispering, curiously. Ikki's grasp on romance is shaky at best and overimaginative at worst, but she does know that's something that normally happens. Usually before people get thrown into volcanoes, she imagines. ]

So you like her?

Actually, her being there was a sort of No Choice deal. She was pretty scared at first! [He says this in a normal, jovial tone... thinking back on the memories fondly] I mean, she sure hadn't planned to go to my world, and I didn't expect to go there either, admittedly! I'd signed on to go with Shikamaru to his world, you see~ Ironically, he got left behind, but that's another story. Anyway! We arrive there, and we stick out like a sore thumb, so I blow all that's in my wallet to get her a new skirt and top and all that goes with it before we go on with the rest of the day.

[...He's rambling, he knows it. He's avoiding Ikki's finale question, because while he's all for being conspiratorial... it's still Katara's granddaughter. He doesn't want. Actually, hm] Buuu- Eeeh, isn't she your grandmother? You know who she ultimately weds, Ikki-chan! One up on me already.

I know a bit about his world, but not lots yet. It's too bad he didn't get to go, though. Does Katara still have the clothes you got her? Where'd you get money? Or did you keep it when you got here to begin with?

[ Ikki nodded, before remembering, yet again, that she wasn't on video chat. ] Katara's my family, but she's not GranGran yet, 'cept I keep calling her that, 'cause she kinda is. I dunno - no one says how long she's been here, 'cept Smoker's been here two years and thinks she's been here longer than him, 'cause when I asked she just said "a long time", 'cause sometimes grown ups don't tell me things, but then some other grown ups do so I can usually figure it out anyway.

But y'know, GranGran is old and taught the Avatar and lives in the South Pole, and she's got a voice that's warm and old and she's patient and whenever we see her she'll give us hugs that are home even if they're not.

Katara hugs me like that, but she doesn't remember me being born or my sister or my brothers, and she remembers stuff GranGran wouldn't, and she says I can't have soda and candy 'cept sometimes like mommy would, and makes sure we always have enough veggies, and I help set the table and cook when I can, and she sleeps in all the time and I never knew GranGran did that, and she worries 'bout me 'cause she mentions things and talks 'round things that other people talk about.

[ She waves her hands, vaguely. ] Katara is Katara and GranGran is GranGran and they're the same but they're different, too. I really, really love them both.

[ Ikki trails off, humming, trying to figure out what she was talking about. ] Oh! But, y'know, Katara should probably go on more all day dates. 'Cause she does almost all the shopping and stuff, and I'm gonna try to do more of it when I can, and I try to clean the vegetables and stuff, and I always clean up my room, but I think she should go do fun things more, too. 'Cause I do fun things, even though I do airbending training for a few hours a day, y'know?

[...There's a lot to process there, so he pauses. He looks away from the book a moment and then clicks the "replay" button at least three times. Listening to her whole rant. processing it. Considering the implications... and the family. He thinks about all Ikki is saying, and about what it all means. Hah.

Even a seven year old sees what I know I'm going to have to confront her about later.

He smiles, warmly to himself]

Ikki-chan, I love her a lot too. [He sounds... warm. Heartfelt there. He probably shouldn't admit that, but maybe she'll miss the meaning] And frankly speaking, I feel the same way about her having fun and shopping. Promise to keep it easy for her, and I'll promise to accost her for more day-dates.
